Accepting your so-called flaws is one of the biggest steps you can make towards self-acceptance. Think about some of the most successful people in the world. They often were told that their flaws would not allow them to pursue the dreams they had in mind. Imagine they had listened and decided to quit.
Actor, James Earl Jones – Stuttered when he spoke.
Model, Entrepreneur, Cindy Crawford – mole on her face.
Model, TV Producer, Tyra Banks – big forehead.
Comedien, TV Host, Whoopi Goldberg – Dyslexic.
Actor, Tom Cruise – Dyslexic.
These are just a handful of people who either used their flaw to their advantage or embraced it in a way that it helped propel their career forward. When we are young children we often get teased about our flaws or differences. Even through to secondary school and college or university it can happen. When we don’t allow what other people think or say to hold us back we can push forward much easier. When you learn to accept the ‘flaw’ you can use it to your advantage.
I love what Tyra Banks says about everyone’s flaws. She calls it “flawsome”. Your flaws are what make you awesome.
