It’s been awhile since posting on this site. I’ve been on a speaking tour with The 411 Initiative For Change. Travelling through several high schools and middle schools speaking to young girls about issues affecting them. Self-esteem, body image, bullying, etc.
One of the girls said something that stuck with me and I wanted to share it. She said, “it’s our differences that make us stronger.” It was so amazing for this young girl to say something like this. It was after the presentation when she came up to me and said she wanted to speak during the q&a but she didn’t get the opportunity.
I think her statement is one that all of us should consider implementing into our lives; young or old. We are all different and it’s true that in our differences we can be stronger individuals. We were not all meant to be the same. If we were the world would be a boring place. I know that sounds cliché but it’s true. Imagine a world where everyone was exactly the same. It’s up to us to make our differences unite us and not divide. We can be stronger people by learning to embrace each other and learning about the things that make us different. It will make us grow into more knowledgeable, stronger people.
