It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on here. Today I want to talk about hair. Hair is something that is often considered a woman’s crowning glory. But for some, they believe it’s also a curse. We always have something to complain about as women don’t we. When it comes to our hair we either hate our curls, despise our Afros, can’t stand the fullness or wish we had less limp hair. If it’s not one thing it’s another.
With an endless array of hair products on the market, it’s obvious that women care about their hair. We do anything we can to make sure we don’t walk out of the house with a ‘bad hair day.’ We take style tips and hair styles from celebrities. Remember ‘The Rachel’? Or Farrah Fawcett in braids? How about Pam Grier and her beautiful ‘fro?
I’m no expert when it comes to hair but I can tell you that it doesn’t matter if you’re in America, Europe or Africa. Women are obsessed about hair. I really believe this more now than ever since spending months in Ghana and noticing more weaves, wigs and hair extensions than I’ve ever seen before.
Imagine we spent as much time on our inner selves as we did on our hair. We could be a force to be reckoned with. I’m not saying we should abandon styling our locks. Just saying, lets put the same effort into becoming the most beautiful women on the inside as we are outside.
